Reality Stars: Where Are They Now?

The follow up to the popular reality show Laguna Beach ended this year after 6 seasons. The show followed young star Lauren Conrad, documenting her love life, friendships, and internship at Teen Vogue. While the majority of MTV fans stayed glued to their TV sets throughout the course of the show, it seems the media has quickly lost interest in the stars of the show.
Reports claim that Lauren Conrad, who left the show in its 5th season, is beginning another reality TV series even after her claims that she no longer wanted to be in the spotlight.

Audrina Patridge is now back on TV screens with her stint on Dancing With The Stars, and is still occasionally spotted at celeb events such as the MTV Video Music Awards.

But the desperate of the cast is of course Speidi. After rumours that the couple are facing a financial glitch, mentioned to the press they were filing for divorce only to be seen frolicking on a beach for Heidi's 24th birthday. Publicity stunt much???

It is no question that reality shows are solely based around hype. And with the growing popularity of MTV's Jersey Shore, it is only a matter of time before we forget all about them too...

For The Love of Glee

Glee has taken the States by storm and is now set to crack overseas, with the first episode having been aired on Channel 4 last January. While watching twenty-something actors pose as teenagers can be slightly frustrating, it goes without saying that Glee is almost a breath of fresh air, watching Friends morning, noon, and night on E4 was just getting old.

It still maintains a well rounded cast that includes Broadway star Matthew Morrison as Will Schuester, a Spanish teacher eager to restore the High School’s Glee club back to its former glory. There is also the Glee club star Rachael Berry played by Lea Michelle, willing to do just about anything to stay at the top. Then there lastly, a personal favourite of mine, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) monster-cheerleading coach bent on destroy her competition that is the Glee club, her hilarious one liners make the show a laugh out loud sensation “I am reasonably confident that you’ll be adding revenge to the long list of things you’re no good at. Right next to being married, running a High School Glee club and finding a hairstyle that doesn’t make you look like a lesbian.”



Clearly taking a few tips from High School Musical, there are countless numbers of fully choreographed routines and pre-recorded music vocals. A good-looking, well produced show that is clearly funny. This has proven after winning the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series. The question still remains; will 40 minutes of singing and dancing keep Gleeks interested in the next 3-4 years? Will have to wait and see...

Tribute to British Talent

I'm sure you've all heard but fashion designer Alexander McQueen tragically passed away last Thursday, it was reported that he had committed suicide. Even so, he was one of my favourite British designers and I thought I would pay a homage to him.

Alexander McQueen was widely known for his somewhat unconventional designs. Having his dresses worn my the likes of Kim Kardashian, Katie Holmes and Cameron Diaz he has been nothing short of successful. He has won the "British Designer of the Year" award four times and was the youngest to ever receive such an award. While reasons for his suicide are still unknown McQueen's designs will be cherished for a long time to come.

McQueen named Lady Gaga as his unofficial muse and exclusively designed her odd lace dress she wore at the VMA's last year.

It is hard not to consider that his designs were quite weird, but it is still a tragic loss. My Prayers go out to his family at this time.

What Is Your Reality?

I know this blog is about celebrities, but I really wanted to share this poem that I wrote today with you guys. It fulfills the purpose of this blog which is to let you know that fame and fortune is not all what its cracked up to be. I hope it touches you...



Every day that we turn on the TV
We are faced with what the world call reality
How is it that we’re supposed to relate
To serial daters and high divorce rates?
C’mon man seriously
Are you telling me this is now our reality?
These celebrities really baffle me
It grieves me to see
These women now on TV

It was not long ago that women fought so that we
Would be able to see
Women in the workplace one day,
I look at these women and sigh
Thinking why
Are you singing and dancing about a Video Phone?
Of all the things that can be brought to our attention
Aids and HIV are never thought to be mentioned

Are women now subject to the lust of the eyes
That we fail to realize
That there is more to life than dancing around looking pretty?
I think it’s such a pity
To know how many girls don’t know their worth
To know that in Christ we have been re birthed
There is no need to look at these people on the TV
Who have their own perceptions of reality
P…P…P…Poker Face just doesn’t apply to me

Don’t look at them, look to the cross
I know without it we would be lost
Just look at those you watch continually on the TV
Are they not lost in their own versions of reality?
Even with all the cars, money, and success
We hear on E! News that Britney Spears is depressed

Is that really what you want your life to be?
That false perception of reality?
Do yourself a favour
Instead of focusing on their lives focus on your own
We are the only ones who will now be leaders of tomorrow

C’mon these people aren’t role models
I’ve told you what they are, so now you know
That you should not behave as they do
Their lives are not what you should aspire to
Let’s make a decision to make a change
Let’s examine our lives and rearrange
It to be what we know it should
Look at your own life, take a look and see
What is your perception of what is called reality?

Swagger Incarcerated

With 2010 under way I thought it might be helpful to have a look at the past years that were jam packed with scandals and premature deaths. While everyone else was mourning at the loss of the King of Pop, it was hard for me not to notice the hottest trend...court cases and prison sentences!!!

5. "The King" T.I.

Popular rapper T.I. was at the peak of his career starring alongside Denzel Washington in American Gangster as well as being among Hip-Hop's most elite. Last year he was sentenced to one year and a day in a correctional facility for federal gun charges making this his second visit to prison after similar charges back in 1997. The rapper once called "Jay-Z of the South" by Pharrell Williams, was caught in possession of illegal firearms. He is expected to be released March this year.

4. Ne-Yo

Singer, song-writer, producer, actor. Ne-Yo seems to have done it all, and there's not many that aren't keen to work with him. Having written and co-produced Beyonce's number one hit Irreplaceable he was personally contacting by Michael Jackson to work on his new album. But in early 2008 Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, was arrested for reckless driving without a valid license as seen in the very flattering picture above. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 24 hours of community service.

3. Katt Williams

Popular comedian Katt Williams was almost on his way to the top. Having supporting roles in films such as The Last Holiday and more famously Friday After Next. There were very few that couldn't find his high pitched voice and topical humour funny. Yet in November last year he was arrested for... burglary??? He was caught breaking into someone's home stealing items including jewellery, this was his apparent second run in with law after being caught in possession of fire arms as well as driving without a license plate. Williams claims all accusations are false.

2.Lil' Wayne

It seems like only yesterday that not many knew the name Lil' Wayne. After being catapulted into the limelight with the success of his single Lollipop, he was been met with a number of collaborations and top ten singles. Including Cant Believe it with T.Pain and the Grammy Award Winning single Swagga Like Us with T.I. Jay-Z and Kanye West. Despite his success it seems Lil' Wayne can't stay away from trouble. He has been arrested a number of times for drug possession, almost as much as Bobby Brown, and has recently pleaded guilty to gun possession. He is expected to serve one year in prison. His sentencing begins in February.

And the number one spot of course goes to...you guessed it...Chris Brooooooooown!!!!

2009 really was the most media coverage Chris Brown has had and for the most will ever see. A very public break up with his girlfriend Rihanna left the ex-Wrigley's poster boy named and shamed. Charged with domestic violence where Rihanna suffered "horrific injuries" including bite marks on her arms. The disgraced singer of course did not face any jail time, but a restraining order that bids him to keep at least 100 yards away from her and six months of community service.

I must say that Katt Williams is by far the most surprising. Burglary? I mean come on! We all know that stuff he stole he could've just bought with his own money anyway. But still, through the past years we've seen the most successful and not so successful with countless run ins with the law. With the many eyes locked on all these figures one would think that they would tread much more softly but as we constantly see, it truly does pay to be young in Hollywood. In spite of the seriousness of their charges they are sentenced with many see little or no jail time at all. Is there really justice in young Hollywood?
